🚀 SIP3 Release 2025.2.1 — Stronger, Smarter, and More Secure
We’re excited to announce SIP3 version 2025.2.1, packed with significant improvements in stability, security, and operational flexibility for VoIP and RTC engineering teams. This update brings enhanced SSL support, better distributed system management, and fresh capabilities for enterprise deployments.

🔐 Stronger Connection Security with TLS for Captain
This release delivers a major boost to Captain agent connectivity. You can now run WebSocket connections over Transport Layer Security (TLS), ensuring encrypted and secure communication between components. Even better — the SIP3 server now includes its own Certification Authority (CA) to manage agent authorization and routing. This centralized control ensures safe, seamless connectivity, especially in large-scale distributed deployments.
📂 UDF Storage Migrated to MongoDB
User-Defined Functions (UDFs) are now stored in MongoDB instead of local files. This change delivers key benefits:
- Perfect for distributed deployments — no more file sync headaches
- Stronger configuration security and resilience
- Ability to edit and manage UDFs via API and UI
This migration touches multiple layers of the architecture, improving Salto, Twig, and Hoof in one step.
🖥 Remote Salto Restart from the UI
Not CLI-only restarts. Now, authorized administrators can restart Salto directly from the web interface.
This is a big win for high-load and distributed systems, where central control over many nodes is critical.
🔐 Twig OAuth Role Customization for Enterprise Security
For enterprise deployments using OAuth providers like Okta, we’ve improved role-based access control. Now, role assignments coming from your central identity provider are fully respected by SIP3.
This enables:
- Smooth onboarding/offboarding
- Consistent security policies across the organization
- Easier management of staff role changes
🖥 Monitoring Twig as a Component in the UI
Twig now appears in the admin interface alongside Salto and Captain. You can view:
- Component status
- Version
- Registration date
- Configuration details
This makes troubleshooting and distributed monitoring much more transparent.
🔍 Hoof Callflow Merging (Experimental)
Hoof, our primary web app for call analysis, now includes an experimental feature — merging multiple calls into a single call-flow view. Use cases include:
- Analyzing different call legs during infrastructure migrations (before formal correlation rules exist)
- Visually comparing service flows for different calls in one unified diagram
We’re looking forward to feedback from early adopters before rolling this out as a fully supported feature.
